Hi, I'm Alex!
Born and raised in Indonesia, I was fortunate enough to experience its culture and explore what it has to offer—including its arts and culture. I moved to the United States in 2015 where I went to Isothermal Community College in Spindale, NC and received an AAS in Graphic Design, focusing on creating work digitally both in graphic arts and design. After graduating, I worked as a graphic artist for Pure Country, Inc. for a year before studying graphic design at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith.
As a graphic designer, I focus on providing clients with clean and simple designs that are relevant to their respective clients and easily communicable. Being half Indonesian, art gives me the opportunity to highlight the country and my cultural history. Several of my works include imagery of volcanoes, speaking to the geological formations of Indonesia as one of the most volcanically active countries in the world. I also aim to utilize the traditional Batik designs in my work in the future to further solidify my cultural identity in my art practice. I create works that inspire people to travel and appreciate the landscape around them. Alternatively, for those unable to travel, I see my work functioning as a portal for viewers to experience the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
