Sun Piercer, 2023. Reduction linoleum relief print on paper, 14 x 11 in.
Exhibited at the First Annual Student Art Exhibition in the Don Lee Student Gallery,
University of Arkansas Fort Smith from April 15 to May 11, 2024.

Growing up in a volcanically active country, I have always had a strong interest in volcanoes. Since reduction relief prints can be considered as a destructive form of printmaking, a print of a volcano erupting seemed fitting. Once each layer is printed, the block will continue to be carved until the last layer is printed. My biggest obstacle was the registration to keep each layer in line with each other. Since there is no way to print the previous layers again, I had to be careful. For the last layer, I mixed the ink to appear dark green on its own with the intention of neutralizing to a brown color when printed on top of the red layer.
